Arndt Design Studio was founded by mother-daughter duo Ashton and Kathleen, united by a shared love of timeless design and thoughtful innovation. Rooted in California’s architectural heritage and relaxed lifestyle, their work blends traditional elements with fresh perspectives—resulting in spaces that feel both enduring and original.

From renovations to interior transformations, Ashton and Kathleen lead every project with a hands-on approach, guiding the vision and the details with care. Known for their layered, livable interiors, they create homes that are tailored, comfortable, and rich with character—always with an eye for one-of-a-kind moments and a practical sensibility. Their work transcends trends, offering a sophisticated warmth that never feels overdone.

Ashton Egbert

Owner & Lead Designer

Ashton discovered her love for interior design as an undergrad at USC (Fight On!), where her natural eye for styling spaces quickly evolved into a true passion. After graduating, she pursued formal training through UCLA’s Interior Design and Architecture program, where she honed her skills in drafting, modeling, and interior architecture.

Her design journey began with roles at top firms in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles, gaining experience across commercial and high-end residential projects. But it wasn’t long before Ashton felt the pull to create something of her own—something more personal. Inspired by a desire to explore her creative vision more freely, she teamed up with her longtime mentor—her mom—and founded Arndt Design Studio.

Today, Ashton leads with a love for antique treasures, layered storytelling, and spaces that feel as cozy as they are curated. Her thoughtful approach and open communication style result in timeless interiors that evolve beautifully with the people who live in them.

 

Kathleen Nixon

Design & Construction

Where Ashton brings the creative vision, Kathleen offers the technical foundation to bring it to life. With a degree in Civil Engineering from Cal State Fullerton and over 30 years of experience in real estate and construction, Kathleen brings a depth of knowledge that grounds every project in precision and possibility.

Fluent in blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction language, she bridges the gap between concept and execution—translating design ideas into actionable plans for architects, landscapers, contractors, and craftsmen.

What makes their partnership so seamless is a shared design sensibility rooted in an appreciation for timeless materials, thoughtful details, and livable beauty. Kathleen brings not only technical expertise, but a deep understanding of the aesthetic vision that defines Arndt Design Studio.
